National Council of Works Meeting kicks off in Abakaliki

The Ebonyi State Government is set to host the 29th National Council of Works Meeting which will commence today and end on Thursday July 19. at the Re-Meritona hotels, Abakaliki.


The state commissioner for Works Engr Stanley Lebechi Mbam disclosed this in his office saying the council meeting is 
an annual event that brings together all stakeholders across the 36 states of the federation including Abuja.

He said that the stakeholders would  deliberate on issues pertaining the works sector.

"The Minister of Works, Senator. Engr. David Nweze Umahi, commissioners, permanent secretaries of ministries of Works across the country, heads of relevant government agencies and other stakeholders are expected to attend the 4-day meeting. 

The theme of this year's meeting is “Unlocking Infrastructural Potentials and opportunities as catalyst for sustainable development under the Renewed Hope Agenda”.

"It is  expected to deliberate on  issues pertaining the economic importance of road infrastructure with a considerable attention on a new innovation.

"This innovation is on the use of alternative Technologies in roads/infrastructure development”, he said.

Mbam said the choice of Ebonyi State as the host of this year’s meeting  is apt and signifies putting a round peg in a round hole..

"This is because Ebonyi has made significant progress in improving on its infrastructure in recent time. 

"There is obvious, observable advancement in road networks, bridges and flyovers". he stated.
