Group appeals Gov Nwifuru for establishment of disability Commission in Ebonyi






A non governmental organization Voice of Disability,(VDI) has appealed to Governor Francis Nwifuru for establishment of disability Commission in Ebonyi 


The group which advocates for the protection of rights of persons with disability especially women and girl child also called on Ebonyi state governor, Francis Nwifuru for the executive backing and domestication of law against persons with disabilities in Ebonyi state.

The group stated this in a communique signed by Barr Catherine Edeh, Director, Voice of Disability,(VDI) in collaboration with Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities and over 25 disability rights advocates from Organizations of of persons with Disabilities in Abakaliki .

According to them, when the Commission is established would domiciled directly under the governor who oversee the affairs of persons with disabilities.

They, however, called for the set up of disability desks and engage sign language interpreters in government institutions especially healthcare facilities to enable persons with disabilities especially the blind, deaf, women with albinism and physically challenged to access health care services.
