LG Elections: Edda APC adopts Chima Ekumankama as consensus candidate for second tenure

The leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Edda have adopted Hon Prince Chima Ekumankama as their only candidate for the forthcoming July 20 local government elections in Ebonyi State.

The people made the adoption during the local government APC stakeholders meeting chaired by Senator Soni Ogbuoji at Ebunwana Civic Center, Edda.
The stakeholders noted that Hon Chima Ekumankama has done well in his first tenure and therefore deserved a second term to enable him to complete the projects he started and consolidate on the gains of his achievements taking into cognizance of his pragmatic, visionary and purposeful leadership which accounts for the existing peace and ongoing rapid transformation in Edda.

They highlighted the achievements of the council chairman which included the provision of access to linking farmlands in the LGA; granting financial support to the vulnerable and distressed persons in Edda; floating of the Edda Mass Transit Scheme for easy transportation of personnel and goods within and outside services in the LGA.

Others were procurement and distribution of vehicles to Councillors and other council officers, renovation and modification of the council secretariat, Nguzu Edda, construction of drainages along Ezi Edda road and many others 
Recall that the motion for adoption for the second term bid of Ekumankama was moved by the chief whip and member representing Edda West in the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Hon Nkemka Onuma and was seconded by his counterpart Hon Stephen Igwe representing Edda East state constituency, before his adoption by the stakeholders. 
The meeting was also used to charge all Councillorship aspirants and serving councillors in the 11 electoral wards in Edda to liaise with their stakeholders and discuss their zoning arrangement for the election of councillors 
They stated that the decision of the Stakeholders in each political ward concerning who represents the ward is sacrosanct and not negotiable.

Stakeholders who spoke during the meeting  include  Hon Prince Nkemka Onuma, member representing Edda West State constituency and Chief Whip of EBHA,  Hon Steven Oji Igwe, the member representing Edda East State constituency; Hon Okwu Oko Ụdụ on behalf of the past and present commissioners, Hon Okenwa Ụka on behalf of the past and present SSAs, Hon Irem Oka Ibom on behalf of past members of the National Assembly, Chief Barr Livinus Irem on behalf of the past and present Local Government Chairmen and Edda Elders Council, Rt Hon Mrs Dorathy Ọbasi on behalf of the Women group, Hon Mrs Cecilia Nkama Ude on behalf of the Development Centre Coordinators, Chief N O Irem  for Edda People's Assembly led Dr Mike Okoro , Mr Ukpai Nnachi Agha on behalf of Okada Unions and Leader of the legislative council on behalf of serving councilors.
Other stakeholders that  graced the occasion included Prince Sunday Ugwuocha, Hon Agwu Nnachi, Hon Barr Agwụ Dick, Hon Mrs Ọla Irem , Hon Igwe Uduma, Dr Okoro Uchenna Okoro, Comrade John Okoro Emegha;  Coordinators of Edda North DC Hon Mrs Cecilia Nkama Ude, Edda DC Hon Prince Ajunwa Okoroafor, Edda West Hon Jecklin Ọnwụbiko and Edda East Hon Mba Oko Nkama,  among others


The stakeholders used the occasion to commend Governor Francis Nwifuru for his love and favourable disposition towards the people of Edda as incapsulated in his development drive in the local government and pledged their unflinching support and loyalty to his government.
