The Commissioner for Jobs Creations and skills development, Mr  Okwu Oko Udu has urged the warring villages of Amata and Ogiri, in Idima community of Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State to embrace peace and eschew violence, following a land dispute.

Correspondent reports that a crisis erupted in the two villages on Wednesday over disputed land, leaving scores of Injured victims and the destruction of properties.

Oko-Udu in an interview with journalists who expressed displeasure over the development urged them to embrace peace as no land is worth the life of an individual.

He noted the deep concerns of the current administration led by Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru over the crisis-affected areas in the state and appealed to aggrieved persons to shield their swords and live as a family.

"I think it is treasurably important if we all can make Peace our paramount investment. Without it, I think I'm not ignorant to say that development will be far from us.

"Please, my people, let's think, allow peace to reign. We're one homogeneous family. This hatred and antagonism can't help us, rather it will jeopardize a lot of what we should benefit from ourselves.

"I admonished that the scripture said, " if possible, make Peace with all men". We can't continue to be in this rubble condition". He said.

The Commissioner commended the council chairman, Prince Chima Ekuma Nkama, and other stakeholders of the areas for their prompt response to the crisis and called on the people to complement their efforts and maintain calmness.

"Grateful to God for the prompt intervention of our capacity chairman and political office holders, local and at the state level. Keep it up". He added.

Earlier, the Chairman of the council, Prince Chima Ekumankama had declared the disputed land as a buffer zone and warned the people to desist from the land as security agencies have taken control of the situation and would not hesitate to deal with defaulters.
