The Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on internal security in charge of IVO local government Area of the State, Hon Ike Clatius Ukpai has assured the residents of improved protection of lives and properties.
Ukpai stated this in an interview with journalists at a reception party organized by the people of Ivo LGA, shortly after his swearing-in at the new executive council chamber, Ochudo centenary city in Abakaliki.
He said the people in the area should be rest assured that insecurity and other challenges confronting the local government are gone under his watch as the Special Assistant to the Governor on security.
He noted that the people of IVO local government have witnessed so much insecurity which has claimed lives and properties of its citizens recently and vowed to use this elevated position to combat crime surfacing the area.
Hon Ukpai said that In carrying out this task, he is not alone in it, “I will partner with security agencies, and other stakeholders to take out criminal elements"
He further commended the Ebonyi state Governor, R.t Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for finding him worthy to serve in his administration, while assuring the governor that there would be no security breaches in the IVO community.
Having served as town union president for so many years, he maintained that he would apply all the necessary measures to assure that the lives of his people are being protected at all levels.
Stakeholders from the area who spoke included Mr. Monday Okorie, former commissioner, of Ebonyii state independent Electoral Commission (EBIEC), and the chairman of chicken dealers association.
They applauded Governor Nwifuru for bringing in capable hands that will handle sensitive security challenges in the hinterland and advised the new appointee to use his previous experience to combat challenges ravaging IVO local government.
"We will advise him to apply his experience gathered during his time as a town union president, knowing fully well that he has what it takes to manage security to the local government and beyond". They added.
