Massive crowd as PDP holds Presidential campaign in Ebonyi

There was a large turn of supporters as the People's Democratic Party PDP held it's Presidential Campaign in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital.

It was indeed a sight to behold as youths, women and men across the 13 Local government areas of the state defiled the scorching sun to witness the epoch event.


The campaign which was held at Pa Ngele Oruta township Stadium. Abakaliki  caused gridlock on the old Enugu road where the stadium is located.

The campaign featured the presence of Atiku Abubakar, the Party's Presidential candidate;  Ifeanyi Okowa,his running mate; Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of PDP; Senators Anyim Pius, Sam Egwu, Obina Ogba, Michael Ama Nnachi and host of others

promised to prioritize women and youths development if he wins the 2023 general elections.

He pledged to ensure that they reach their potentials and contribute to national development and succeed the current crop of leaders. ‘We want our youth to be where we are, we are here to bring you up, our youths and our woman, we are bringing you up so that you can succeed us. We are not going to be there forever. We want you to succeed us. For you to succeed us, you must be a responsible citizen. You must be hard-working youths, young men and women.”

Atiku who reiterated his committed to power devolution and restructuring
said the people of the South East zone have been clamouring for restructuring to enable them have more powers to deal with their local affairs and assured the people that restructuring will be a major policy of his administration 

He described  rulling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a deceitful party, adding that it promised to restructure the country and failed to do so.



He said "I am committed to power devolution and restructuring. All the South Eastern states have been yearning and have been propagating for restructuring this country because they want to have more powers, more resources to deal with their own local affairs. We agree entirely and that is why it is a major policy of our government to be if you support us and if you give us the opportunity.

"APC had promised the same. Did they do it? They abandoned the state issue of restructuring, they are very deceitful party or alliance, very deceitful. 

"We are committed and we mean what we say and if you give us the support, we will deliver.

"They said some people formed a party, it is not a party o. It is an alliance and the alliance is collapsing and it has collapsed".


Also speaking, the national Chairman of PDP, Senator Iyiocha Ayu, stated that the developmental strides recorded in the state since 1999 were under the party during the administrations of Dr. Sam Egwu and Martin Elechi despite governor David Umahi’s defection to the APC.

Ayu, who stated that Ebonyi is blessed with good governors under the party, urged the people to return to the fold.

The Director General of Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council and governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tabuwal, said the party’s candidate would transform the country and fixed the economy.

The governorship candidate of the party in the state, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Odii, Anyichuks promised to make the state the preferred investment destination, stimulate opportunities for growth and improve the livelihood, as well as capacity of the people. End
