Ex Ebonyi PDP Chair dispels rumour of defection to APC

A former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  Ebonyi State, Chief Fred Udeogu, has dispelled the rumour that he has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Rumours have been making the round that Elder Udeogu had dumped the PDP for the APC, in the state.

This is coming barely 24 hours after a former Minister of Culture and Tourism, Amb. Frank Ogbuewu, who hails from the Ikwo Local Government Area of the state (same council area with Udeogu), reportedly dumped the PDP for the APC.

But reacting, in an interview, with journalists in Abakaliki, Udogu denied the allegation, discribing it as the handiwork of mischief makers and political jobbers.

He said, "It's not true. How can that be? Why would I leave the PDP for any party currently? As far as I'm concerned, the allegation is baseless.

Udeogu, who is a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, added, "I have not left. I have not moved. I'm still very strong with the PDP. The PDP, as a party, has not done me any wrong. It's Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has done me no wrong. It's members and leaders, including Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim have done me no wrong. PDP is still a very strong and united party and so, people like us, still believe in the party.

"So, whoever tells you I have left the PDP is telling you a huge lie. And those are the people I call political jobbers and mischief makers. They are jobless, and to be relevant and recognised, they resort to the social media and say all manner of things, both good and bad. But those who know us , know they are liars. Therefore, I'm still with the PDP."
