The Ebonyi State Police has paraded a 22 years old Miracle Onwe, a native of Ezzamgbo Local Government Area of the State who is suspected to be a serial rapist.

The Police public relations officer SP Chris Anyanwu said the suspect was arrested in Aboffia village where he reportedly assaulted a 20 years old Ruth Nwizi, at a rice farm.

Anyawu noted that the suspect had been arrested for attempting to rape a minor but was granted bail when the parent of the victim decline prosecution, but said "this time he would be charged to court to serve as deterrent to others involved in rape act".

"The Ebonyi State Police command arrested a habitual rapist on 29th of August, a young girl known as Ruth was in her farm in Aboffia village,

"when the suspect swept on her and had canal knowledge of her without her consent and immediately after that he stole the girl's Infinix phone worth 45.000 and took to his heels,

"the girl raised alarm and people came to chase after him, he dived into a nearby river in Aboffia and with the help of the people he was apprehended.

"This is not the first time he's doing this, he attempted raping a minor sometimes this year in the same manner, the same modus operandi, when the people chased him he dived into the river,

"but what happened was that he didn't rape the minor but attempted to do it, when the parents of the girl realized that thier daughter wasn't defiled they decided to decline to prosecute him,

"this time around he did it and we've gotten the medical reports to prove he actually raped the girl, and he confessed to the crime". he explained.

When newsmen interacted with the victim, Ruth Nwizi confirmed that the suspect had a canal knowledge of her and demanded for justice.

The suspect, however confessed to the crime noting the act to be his second rape escapade
