Photo News: Hon Igariwey organises Okpudo Annual Lecture Series 2022 on the Ikeji Afikpo & Edda people



The member representing Afikpo North/ South federal Constituency, Rt Hon Iduma Igariwey, has organised the 2022 
Okpudo Annual Lecture Series  on the Ikeji Afikpo & Edda people.

The theme of this year's lecture tagged: “Aho Je Ngeje”- The Nexus of Language, Culture & Gender Dynamics in Afikpo & Edda Iriji Festivals was delivered by erudite Professor Ngozi Ugo Emeka-Nwobia, Dean faculty of Social Sciences, EBSU.

The programme which had in attendance people from all walks of life including the academia, politicians of note, traditional councils, women groups was held at Ugwu Ovum Mgbom, Afikpo

The Okpudo Ikeji Annual Lecture Series 
is geared towards providing a platform for the people to discuss topical issues on Afikpo/ Edda new yam festival.

The Okpudo Ikeji Lecture as a platform, is intended to re-enact the cultural heritage and strengthen the bond between Afikpo and Edda. 

"It was not enough to eat, drink and dance without creating room for a critical reflection and reassessment of our deep past. Hence, the intellectualization of the Ikeji cultural festival."
 

This year's event also featured uneviling a book titled " The Bond; A study of inter group Relations between Afikpo and Edda"
