A Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki has nullified the rescheduled  Primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State.

The Court presided over by Justice Fatun Riman ruled that the primary elections that produced Senator Obinna Ogba and other candidates were illegal, unconstitutional, null and void.

The Court also affirmed the primary elections earlier conducted in the state that produced Dr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii as governorship candidate of the PDP.

The  Judge ruled that PDP properly constituted a primary election committee and deployed them for the purpose of same and that INEC agreed to have monitored the election and returned candidates transparently.

The Court held that any other primary elections held after those of 28 & 29 of May, 2022 are null and void, conferring no benefit or rights whatsoever.

Recall that Dr Ifeanyichukwu Odii had  emerged the governorship candidate of the Party primaries conducted between May 28 and May 29 before it was cancelled and rescheduled by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP on June 5 and 6 and the current Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, Senator Obinna Ogba emerged winner

Odii had insisted that he remains the authentic candidate of the Party, maintaining that the rescheduled primary was an illegality.
