The Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial district Distinguished Senator Michael Ama Nnachi, Ph.D, has felicitated with Christians all over the country on the occasion of this year's Easter celebration.
A statement by Senator Nnachi's Media office in Abakaliki on Saturday, called on Christians to reflect on the significance of the celebration by emulating the selflessness and sacrificial life of Jesus Christ.
He urged Christians to seize the opportunities the celebration afford to imbibe those virtues in which Christ was known for, which include, but not limited to humility, forgiveness, tolerance, good neighbourliness, respect and empathy for others’ feelings as well as love for one another.
He also urged Christians to use the period as a time of sober reflection on the life and times of Christ and His selfless sacrifices.
Sen Nnachi who is the vice Chairman Senate committee on Airforce also called on Nigerians, particularly Ebonyians to use the period to intensify prayers for the peace and security of the State and the country in general.
According to him, Easter is a very important event in the Christendom which marks the triumph of Jesus Christ over sin, adversity and death.
"As we celebrate this year's Easter, let us reflect on the life and times of Christ and His selfless sacrifices.
"Let's also remember that it is a time for meditation and sober reflections by imbibing those virtues of humility, forgiveness, tolerance, good neighbourliness, respect,etc, that Jesus Christ is known for.
"On behalf of my family and the entire good people of Ebonyi South Senatorial district, I heartily rejoice with Nigerians particularly Christians on this auspicious occasion of the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior.
"And I pray that the joy associated with the celebration will be your portion"
"As we approach another season of electioneering, let me enjoin those that are eligible to vote but have not got their voters cards to do so to enable them vote candidates of their choice."
"Once again Happy Easter," Senator Nnachi said.
