Umahi's sack: Group calls for calm, cautions against inflammatory remarks

The All Progressives Congress (APC), House of Assemby candidates in the 2019 general elections have has called on Ebonyi residents to remain calm and eschew inflammatory remarks in the face of political crisis rocking the state. 

The group under the umbrella of '2019 House of Assemby Candidates' made the call in a statement jointly signed by Mr Ejike Agbo, its coordinator and Mrs Ngozichi Okorie, Secretary and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki. 

The group appealed to members of the public especially the elite to abstain from making incendiary remarks capable of further aggravating the political tension caused by removal of Gov. David Umahi and deputy, Kelechi-Igwe by the court.
 
The group which frowned at the unfortunate development, however, expressed confidence that the removal of the governor by the Federal High Court, Abuja would be upturned at the Appeal Court. 

The statement therefore, urged the citizens to remain calm and shun engaging in any behaviour or activity that could plung the state into deeper crisis. 

"We the concerned APC 2019 House of Assembly candidates have frowned at the development resulting from the court judgement sacking Gov. Umahi, as governor of Ebonyi. 

"We hereby affirm our support and solidarity to the governor at this challenging time and appeal to our people to shun remarks or behaviour that could truncate the existing peace and security of the state.

We also wish to appeal that the governor should not be distracted at this time he is focused on delivering good governance to the good people of Ebonyi. 

"We therefore call on all our APC members, well meaning citizens of the state and Nigerians at large to remain calm and law abiding while the issue is resolved legally. 

"We want to use this medium to advice that our brothers and sisters in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to desist from making inflammatory comments against capable of causing chaos or pandemonium," the statement said.

The group which expressed their unalloyed support and solidarity to the governor urged him to remain focused on accomplishing the various people-oriented projects for the benefits of the people.
