How Sen Ama Nnachi empowered Constituents with digital skills, donates laptops, cash for start ups

The Senator, representing Ebonyi South Senatorial district, Distinguished Senator Michael Ama Nnachi (PhD), has organized a two day training on digital skills acquisition for the youths of Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
The training, which focused on digital skills acquisition for self reliance, was in conjunction with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and Daisygo Concepts Ltd, which was held at the ICT center, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana in Afikpo North Local Government area of the State.
The event which was held between 1st and 2nd of December 2021, drew participants  from the five Local Government areas of Ebonyi South Senatorial District, namely; Afikpo North, Afikpo South, Ivo, Onicha and Ohoazara LGA.

Senator Ama Nnachi, who was represented at the training by his Legislative Aide, Hon. Obinna Agha, said he was motivated to train his Constituents on ICT so as to expose them to the ICT world, as well as to lift them out of unemployment and poverty.

He noted that the training was a demonstration of his strong belief in the use of ICT as a major force towards achieving economic development at the moment, adding that all the participants would receive a laptop each and cash sums to enable them start their businesses.

He charged them to apply the skills they acquired during the training into practice in order to establish themselves and be self reliant, and promised to make the training a regular event to accommodate a large portion of his Constituents. 


In his remarks, the representative of 
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mr Stanley  Osy, said the program was organized to equip the youths with basic computer knowledge in order to enhance their productivity in the present ICT age.

He advised them to make good use of the opportunity and be useful to the society at large, as they received Empowerment with laptops and cash for start ups.

Participants were taught on the basics of computer, Uses of Corel draw, Microsoft Excel, Power point, Microsoft word and mastering keyboard shortcut keys. Others include installation of software and use of internet for practicals

Some of the beneficiaries, like Okoh Ifeanyi Chukwu from Afikpo North, Agom Daniel Chukwubuike from Onicha, Uka Henry Ekele, Ivo LGA and Raphael O Kyrian, from Afikpo South LGA who expressed appreciations to the Senator, described him as a leader who believed in human capital development as the bedrock of the society.


Recall however, that Senator Ama Nnachi had organized similar Programme in November 2020, and over 40  youths from Ebonyi South Senatorial District were trained and equipped with laptops and cash.
