Encomiums as Senator Nnachi celebrates New Yam festival with his Constituents in grand Style

The Senator Representing Ebonyi South Senatorial district, Distinguished Senator Michael Ama Nnachi, Ph.D has celebrated the new yam with the good people of Ebonyi South Senatorial district with Pomps and pageantry.

The event which was held at his country home, Itim Edda Afikpo South,  with the support of his wife Clara Nnachi was graced by notable Political Stakeholders and Community leaders, Women and Youths groups from both within and outside the zone.

Speaking during the occasion Sen Nnachi commended the people of Ebonyi South Senatorial district for their wonderful solidarity and show of love for him.

He called on the people  to continue to embrace peace and unity inline with dictates of the celebration, which he said, was meant to thanking God for creating yam and giving them the opportunity to see the new yam.

According to him, the Igbo New Yam festival not only has brought togetherness, love, unity and strength, but also development over time.


He described New Yam festival as a unique heritage and one of the  outstanding cultural activities in Igbo Land which marks the beginning of a traditional New year, and signifies the end of planting season and ushers in new yam. 

He called on the people to sustain the tempo.

Sen Nnachi used the occasion to further reassure the entire people of the zone of his avowed determination to continue to offer effective and qualitative representation to the good People of the Senatorial district.

He equally called on the people to remain steadfast in their support for the PDP and reject political parties by make PDP their only choice.

Also Speaking at the event,  the Senator  representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial zone, Chief Senator Joseph Obinna Ogba stressed that it would be of great importance for Ebonyians to continue to work hard and exercise patience in all aspects of their lives, as he promised that the nation would be great again through the help of God and PDP. 
Chief Ogba, commended Amah Nnachi for organizing the wonderful yam festival for his constituent, describing it as the best, which had never happened in the history of Ebonyi South constituency.

He added that the good people of Ebonyi South should see reasons why they should re-elect Senator Nnachi come 2023 general election.

On his part, Hon Idu Enwo Igariwey, member representing Afikpo North/Afikpo South Federal constituency, commended the Edda people for their unflinching support for him and assured them of more dividends of democracy, even as he pointed out that his administration would never forget Edda people for their massive support.

Also, a notable chieftain of the PDP, Chief Dr Gideon Osi Chidiebere popular known as (GOC), also commended Sen Nnachi  for celebrating the new yam festival with the people of Ebonyi South Senatorial District.

He said that the significance of new yam Festival in Igbo land was very important, because, according to him, the yam signifies growth, straight and continuity among Igbo land, and the new yam teaches unity, patient to the farmers to continue to wait for the next harvest.

He urged the people of  Ebonyi South Senatorial district to solidly support the programmes and visions of Senator  
Nnachi to continue to deliver dividends of democracy to the good people of Ebonyi South.

He said Nnach  had positively touched the lives of the People of the zone.
 
Highlights of the event were presentation of N500,000 cash gift to each of the five of the LGAs of the district, presentation of wrappers by Distinguished Senator Ama Nnachi and wife to women, cultural display by various groups including Ike Edda Women, Eku Abel, Nkwaumuagboho of Afikpo , etc, and eating of New Yam by dignitries from far and wide that graced the occasion.

Other personalities that graced the occasion include, Chief Anyi Chuks represented by Ego Bekee; Chief Ali Odefa represented by Barr Silas Onu, PDP Publicity Secretary; Chief Julius Ama Oji (Ochiriozua Edda), Engr Dr Nnanna Onuoha, Chief Mudi Erhenede, PDP Legal Adviser; Hon Chidi Ejim,
Chief George Ukpai, Chief Abia Onyike and many others.
