Ebonyi ALGON debunks media report of uncomplimentary remarks on ALGON IMC

Chairman Association of Local Government Nigeria, Ebonyi State Chapter, Hon Princess Nkechinye Iyioku has described as unfortunate and strange the purported publication in one of the Online platform on her comment on the Interim Management Committee of ALGON.

Addressing Newsmen in Abakaliki, Princess Iyioku said she has not at anytime made a comment or directed any of her aids to issue a statement on her behalf concerning the committe.

Recall that there was a media report that Ebonyi State Chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, (ALGON) has disassociated itself from the purported membership of a faceless Interim Management Committee IMC which has been existing only in the imagination of one Hon Abdulahi Maje.

She maintained that the purported report with no name as her media officer was a figment of the writer's imagination adding that it is unfortunate that this has shown how desperate people can be in their quest for political relevance.

Princes Iyioku who also described the media report as the handiwork of those who want to use her name to achieve cheap political relevance noted that she would always toe the line of justice, equity, fairness and the rule of law.

She further noted that at no point did she warn Hon Abdulahi Maje, National President of ALGON, IMC and Chairman of Sujela Local Government Area of Niger State to desist from impersonating as the Interim Management Committee President of ALGON.

Ebonyi State ALGON Chairman warned the online media organization to always cross-check their facts before publication stressing that desperate politicians would always want to catch in on Media organization to disseminate fake news to the unsuspecting members of the public based.


She urged the Abuja online media platform to retract the purported publication within 48 hours or else she would be compelled to take necessary legal actions against the organization.

Princess Iyioku maintained that the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria and section 5G of the ALGON constitution states that membership of the Association shall comprise of Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and elected Councilors of the 774 LGAs in Nigeria.

She noted that to ensure that the rule of law is obeyed, eligibility of ALGON Chairman should be based on the provision of the constitution of Nigeria and ALGON. Ends.
