The Governing Board and the entire members of Izhi Tehu Foundation (ITF) condemn in its entirety the renewed hostilities between some Izhi communities and their Ikwo brothers.
To say the least, the act is barbaric and senseless, especially considering the indissoluble blood ties between the Izhi Nnodo and Ikwo Noyo clans.
Recall that on the early hours of May 30, 2021, the Fulani herdsmen invaded three Izhi villages at the Ebonyi-Benue borders and brutally murdered about 76 persons while injuring over 50 others.
This should be the time our unity is most needed and wonder why we should resume unwarranted killing of ourselves.
Isn't it time we really come together as brothers, and work to put behind this primitivity of incessant communal clashes, amounting to wanton destruction of lives and property?
We are highly disappointed at those who may be masterminding and sponsoring this crisis for their selfish interests and, on that note, wish to disassociate ourselves from it.
We call on the affected communities and, indeed, all concerned to stop this brutality immediately and give peace a lasting chance.
We, wholeheartedly, welcome the hand of fellowship from Ikwo Noyo Youth Consultative Forum and numerous other Ikwo brothers and sisters who are lovers of peace.
We appreciate the efforts of the state Governor, His Excellency Engr David Umahi, in curtailing the crisis and appeal for more long lasting measures to avoid future reoccurrence.
We also call on elders and stakeholders not only of Ikwo and Izhi, but of the entire Unwuekumenyi dynasty, including Ezza and Mgbo/Izhia, to come to a round table and find lasting solution to the myriads of internal crisis ravaging us as a people.
Particularly, we feel that the current leadership arrangement in the State provides an ample opportunity to deal with these lingering primitive communal clashes. First, our Ikwo Brother, His Excellency Barr. Eric Kelechi Igwe is the Deputy Governor, Our Ezza Brother, Dr Kenneth Ugbala, is the Secretary to the State Government and Our own Izhi son, Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is the Speaker - Ebonyi State House of Assembly. Again, our worthy Izhia/Mgbo son, His Excellency Sen Dr Sam Ominyi Egwu and his Ikwo counterpart, His Excellency, Chief Martin N. Elechi are leaders of note.
ITF urges these five gentlemen to join hands and mobilize other notable leaders to a meeting urgently and come out with permanent solutions to all points of border conflicts amongst Unwuekumenyi. They must not fail, as posterity beckons on them.
We hope strongly that peace and mutual love returns quickly, as we heed to this important call.
Long live Izhi Nnodo Ekumenyi!
Long live Ikwo Noyo Ekumenyi!
Long live Umuekumenyi!
Long live Ebonyi State.
