Muslim community in Ebonyi State has extolled the leadership qualities and sense of commitment to nation unity exhibited by Governor David Umahi in the last six years.
The group who made the declaration
in a resolution presented to the Governor during Eid-El- Fitr Sallah visit at the Government House, Abakaliki pleaded with the Governor to make himself available for the position of Nigerian President in 2023.
The Leader of the delegation and State Chairman of the Muslims Pilgrims Welfare Board, Engr Abass Egwu said they are impressed with the monumental achievements of the Governor in the State and expressed the hope that the Governor will replicate same at the National level if given the opportunity to occupy the highest political office in the country.
" We appreciate your dynamism and foresightedness in Leadership, hence we admire and also support your party. We plead with you that in 2023 you should present yourself for National assignment" . He said.
Engr Egwu told the Governor that the Muslims have resolved as a group to provide security report and information at anytime they observe any security threat as a support to his administration.
He assured that they would strive to protect infrastructures put in place by the state government.
Responding, Governor David Umahi who was represented by the Deputy Governor Dr Kelechi Igwe commended the Muslim community for their support to the development of the state since 2015. According to the Governor," we Pray that the Muslim Community in Ebonyi state will continue to practice their faith and demonstrate it practically as they have always done over the years".
"We believe that combine efforts of Muslims and Christians will solve the security challenges that has bedeviled this nation" . He said.
Governor Umahi said that the present security situation is not a period to apportion blames rather a time to work together to restore normalcy.
He assured that his administration is favourably disposed to accommodate the views and contributions of the Muslim Community in the task of developing the state.
He urged them to do the state a favour of volunteering information to government in case of any security threat as they declared since Islam is noted for peace, Unity and love.
