The wife of the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District Mrs. Clara Ijeoma Nnachi, FCA has felicitated with all Children and children of Ebonyi South Senatorial District extraction, as they celebrate this year's International Children's Day.
Mrs. Nnachi who is the Chairman, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) Abuja & District Society, in a statement issued by Senator Michael Ama Nnachi's Media Office in Abakaliki, congratulated the children for marking this auspicious day which she said had been set aside for the celebration of children and creating awareness of issues affecting them.
She added that the children's day also helped to appreciate that the children, were the future of our Societies.
She described the theme for this year's celebration, which is, "Unite to reverse the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on children", as very apt.
According to her, the theme highlights the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child that all children irrespective of their status and situation should enjoy their rights to Survival and Development as enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2003.
Mrs. Nnachi, in the statement, challenged Parents to inculcate in their Children the fear of God and the acute understanding of the principles of right and wrong.
"They must shun cultism, and other anti-social behaviour that may stand in their way of rising to the faith of their greatness", she noted.
She said children were the most valuable assets, representing the future and the hope for tomorrow, adding that parents should safeguard their future by motivating and providing them with necessary essentials for growth.
She further reiterated the commitment of her husband, Distinguished Senator Michael Ama Nnachi, in uplifting the welfare and rights of Ebonyi South Children and Children of Ebonyi State in general and called on Government at all levels to ensure that the rights of Children were protected.
The Children’s Day was set aside by the United Nations in 1964 to celebrate the importance of children and provide policy makers and families the opportunity to consider policies and programmes to enhance their development.
