Umahi congratulates Prof Nnenna Oti as new VC FUTO

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has congratulated Professor Nnenna Oti on her emergence as the 8th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).

Professor Oti, a native of Afikpo North Local Government Area of the State scaled through a thorough screening of 7 candidates listed for the position to emerge.

She is a Professor of Soil Science and Environmental Conservation, a three-time Head of Department of Soil Science and Technology in the School of Agricultural and Agriculture Technology (SAAT) and the immediate past chairman, Gender Policy Unit who has spent over 34yrs in academics, teaching research and administration in the Nigerian university system with international exposure.

Umahi in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity Francis Nwaze congratulated Prof Oti on her well-deserved attainment and wished her well in her Service to humanity.

He expressed hope that with the Vice Chancellor's wealth of knowledge in academics spanning over 35 years, she would do Ebonyians proud in her new position.

"Ebonyians are noted for hard work all over the world and it is that hard work that has brought you this far, I have no doubt in my mind that you will do us proud in this your new position knowing very well the stuff you are made, you can always count on our prayers and moral support"

He prayed to God to continue to strengthen and guide the Vice-Chancellor in the daily exercise of her office.
