Gov Umahi, Deputy, others receive COVID-19 vaccines




The Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi alongside his Deputy, Barr Kelechi Igwe and other members of the State Executive have received the Covid 19 vaccination.

They were vaccinated by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Umezurike at the Governor’s office, New Government House complex Abakaliki.

Speaking shortly after receiving the vaccine Umahi assured the citizens that COVID 19 vaccine delivered to the state is safe and effective

He urged the people to courageously take the 46, 090 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine and shun the negative social media reports on it.

“It is however not compulsory for people to be vaccinated but they must compulsorily observe the COVID 19 protocols especially wearing of face masks.

He directed the State Deputy Governor, Barr Kelechi Igwe to monitor strictly the process of the vaccination and to ensure that those stipulated to receive the vaccine were all captured in the 13 local government areas of the state.

He thanked President Muhammdu Buhari for showing exemplary leadership by procuring and being the first to be vaccinated with the vaccine.


The state commissioner for Health Dr. Umezuruike said that the state is following the national guildline in the vaccination exercise and commended the State Governor and other strategic leaders for volunteering to be vaccinated.

He said that all the plans to ensure the success of the vaccination has been put in place adding that the health workers has been trained to give the vaccines. End
