#EndSARs Summit: Umahi charges Youths to channel their energy to good causes

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has charged Ebonyi youths to take advantage of the EndSars summit to channel their energy to good causes towards nation building. 

Umahi who stated this in Abakalki during the closing ceremony of the one-week #EndSARS youth summit 
called on youths  in the country to be disciplined and hardworking to overcome their challenges and excel in their endavours.

He called on the youths to stop destroying their future on the social media and committing cyber crimes by circulating news that were not verified.

The governor who  promised to seek the services of respected icons in the country to discover and harness the potentials of Ebonyi youths noted that over 75 of youths who participate in the one-week event would be groomed in film acting to make them future move stars.

“We would collaborate with veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji who offered tutorials during the summit, to groom future movie stars from Ebonyi.

He said that soccer stars Kanu Nwankwo and Peter Rufai would assist in harnessing the football and general sporting talents of the youths who would be organised as a unit to be effectively engaged.

He said that the impact of the youths demand to end  SARS and police brutality and how how to engage them is being implemented and commended President Muhammad Buhari for his directive to organize the summit in every state.

On his part, Kalu Nwankwo told the youths to be disciplined in everything they do in life to achieve success.


“In everything you do in life, you have to be disciplined no matter how you see yourself, no matter how big or small you are, even in business, you have to be disciplined. Without being disciplined, you cannot achieve anything. If you are playing football and you have the talent, without discipline, you cannot succeed.  So, focus on what you are doing, don’t let anybody distract you because if you have a talent and work hard towards it, you will achieve your goals.

“Everybody is saying Papilo! Papilo!! Papilo!!! Papilo is from a very poor family. I will tell you that we eat garri in morning, garri in the afternoon and garri in the evening. We cooked soup without meat or fish, all we are looking is for something that will enter our stomachs.

“Government cannot do everything for us. When Papilo started, I didn’t depend on government. If you are waiting for government to do those things that you are supposed to , my brother, that poverty and hunger will still be there,” he told the youths.

Nwankwo described sports as biggest tool that unites, give peace, bridge gap and give you good health.

Peter Rufai in his own remarks advised the youths to engage in meaningful careers like sports which he said break barriers, bridge gaps.


He noted that while they choose their careers, they must marry them with education to see the beauty of such careers.

Chairman of the summit’s organising committee, Mr Eze Nwachukwu said that over 1, 500 youths participated in it and were tutored to see governance and other societal issues from the realitious perceptive

“The youths are grateful to the governor for convening the summit and the Ebonyi society would feel the summit’s impact through the re-orientation of the youths.
