Ebonyi Airport to be ready by Dec 2021

Ebonyi State government has announced that the on going construction of Ebonyi Airport would be ready by December 2021.

The State Commissioner for Information and  State Orientation Barr Uchenna Orji, announced this in Abakaliki  while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.

He  said that the Exco considered and approved for the first, second and third phases for the construction of the parking Lots  at the Airport.


According to him the approval followed the expression of hope by Governor David Umahi that, with the pace of work at the airport, it will be completed before the end of 2021.


 "The state Executive council has approved the construction of the parking lots of the Airport and they approval are in three phases. Phase one is N949 million while the second and third phases are N950 and N643 million respectively.”

"It must be noted that the Governor in EXCO, did express hope that, from what is happening at the airport, the airport shall be ready before the end of the year 2021"


In a related development the government has set up a four Man committee  to verify the cause of the collapse of the new stadium fence at the Ochudo Centenary City Abakaliki.

The committee has  Engr. Muhammed Idris as chairman, other members include Mr Otah Felix , Mr Obinna Emmanuel and Hon Ogiji Chike .

According to  Barr Orji the Terms of Reference included “to unravel the circumstances that led to the collapse of the perimeter fence, evaluate the work to be done, ascertain the extent of the collapse fence and any other matters that may be in the interest of the State.

The Committee has seven days to submit its report and make recommendations to the State Government.

On the issue of renewed crises in Effium, Abaomege/Isinkwo,and Enyibichiri/Enyigba communities. Barr Orji said government is frowned at the renewed attack and counter attack between Effium/Ezza Effium community, including false alarm raised by stakeholders on the situation of things in the area

"EXCO received a briefing on the situation of Effium/Ezza Effium, Abaomege/Isinkwo,and Enyibichiri/Enyigba communities and frowned at the renewed attack and counter attack between Effium/Ezza Effium community, including false alarm raised by stakeholders on the situation of things in the area.  EXCO noted the progress made in the demarcation of the boundary between the two communities and resolved to invite the stakeholders of Effium/Ezza Effium and Abaomege/Isinkwo communities on Monday 29th March, 2021". He stated.
