The Vice Chancellor of Ebonyi state University, Prof Chigozie Ogbu has debunked media report that some students died in a stampede that occurred during the University's General Studies (GST) Exams, last week.
Prof Ogbu who made the clarifications, while briefing the Press in Abakaliki, said there was no casualty or record of death of any student during the Exam.
He said, "during the incident, the University has no record of casualties. Some students, who fainted were taken to the hospital and they are now sound and healthy.
"What really happened on that day, Wednesday, was that there were some hitches that caused delay of the examination.
"It was actually scheduled batches by batches of all the students, who are for the examination. The first batch fixed for 8am could not start due to the delay in fixing some of the computers.
"With this, the hall became overcrowded and some students, who were struggling to go inside the hall fainted. They were rushed to the hospital but nothing happened to any of them. All our students are all alive.
"Right now, the examination has been canceled and postponed. The new date for the examination will be fixed in no distance time.
"The school management is committed to quality education. Since I became the Vice-chancellor of the University, we have built and finished a lot of projects.
"The Information Communication Technology centre is in advanced stage of completion. We have installed over 500 computer sets for CBT examinations.
"The faculty of Education building is ongoing as well as School of Management Science building; we want to set structures to make Ebonyi State University one of the best school in the country," the VC stated.
