The Senator representing Ebonyi North senatorial district and former governor of Ebonyi state Dr. Sam Egwu has condemned in strong terms the unwarranted Killings and destruction of properties in Effium community.
Senator Egwu in a press statement issued in Abakaliki, described as unfortunate the violence that has led to wanton destruction of lives and property as well as other means of livelihood in the area.
He recalled that the two communities have been living in relative peace over the years and regretted that whatever led to the crisis would have been resolved on a round table.
Egwu called on the waring parties to shield their swords and embrace peace to avoid further loss of lives and property.
Egwu who thanked the government of Ebonyi state led by Chief David Umahi for responding swiftly towards the crisis called on the two tribes of Effium speaking language and Ezzas to close ranks and bring the crisis to end.
He tasked the governor of the state Chief David Umahi to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act to face the wrath of the law.
He said: "I condemn in strong terms the dastardly act and unwarranted killings that erupted between the people of Effium and Ezza Effium Communities in Ohaukwu L.G.A. of Ebonyi State"
"I condole with the families of those who lost their lives and property and urged them to hand everything over to God.
"I thank the State Government for its prompt action on the crisis and called for a full investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the violence, after which those found culpable must be brought to book" he noted.
He advised stakeholders from the two blocs to be at the vanguard of peace and see each other as brother rather than taking side on the matter
