Onueke Attack: Fear Grip Residents As Policemen Desert Police Post

Following the recent Attack on police station at onueke, Ezza south local government area of Ebonyi state, residents of the area have expressed fears as Policemen desert duty posts for fear of further attacks.

Recall that hoodlums had on Friday night invaded the Onueke Police Division on motor­cycles and a tricycle,  opened fire at policemen on duty, leading to the death of three policemen and two others injured.

The hoodlums were said to have also set a section of the station ablaze, and burnt not less than four cars parked at the station.

Speaking with our correspondent, some of the residents noted that the absence of Policemen on strategic duty posts in the area, has left them vulnerable to further attacks,

noting that the police had since abandoned them since after the bloody attack on its personnel,
they called on the state government to intervene and proffer solution to ensure thier safety.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson DSP Loveth Odah, told our reporter that the com­mand had commenced in­vestigations into the attack, adding that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
