Don't withdraw from active politics... Ohaneze Ndlgbo tells Umahi

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, the Ohaneze Ndigbo has called on Governor David Nweze Umahi not to moot quitting politics in 2023 but make himself available to occupy a national position in the Country due to his track record of leadership ingenuity. 

The Leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Ebonyi State Chapter,  Deacon Boniface Offor, made the call when he led the organization on a Christmas homage to the Governor in Uburu. 


Deacon Offor who said Governor Umahi deserves the opportunity to extend his pragmatic leadership across Nigeria, promised to magnify the good news of Ebonyi State transformation under Governor Umahi to all nooks and crannies. 

"...because you are the person chosen by God to make Nigeria better,  do not say you are withdrawing  from politics,  Ndigbo will not take it,  Nigeria will not take it "

Responding, Governor Umahi commended ohaneze Ndigbo for the warm sentiments. 


He congratulated the outgoing National Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo for working assiduously to agitate for the welfare of Ndigbo. 

"He has done extremely well for Ndigbo, he is leaving a very big shoe,   my prayer is for God to  bring someone who will fit in."

Meanwhile, Governor David Umahi has
approved the promotion of civil servants from 2021.

The Governor who gave the approval while receiving a delegation of Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress said the promotion will be  based on availability of vacancy.  

He, however, explained that promotions are done when there is a vacancy. 

"Promotion is based on availability of vacancy.  Next year we will be talking about further Agricultural empowerment  and promotion based on vacancy"

He directed that compilation of vacancies in various MDAs should begin while a written examination will be a determinant for the promotion.

The leader of the delegation, Comrade Leonard Nkah extolled the Governor for an adequate welfare package for Civil servants in the State. 

The Governor also received the delegation of Nigerian Law School Students who conferred on him an award as the Lion of the East for his love for the Students.

The Governor appealed to them to take their studies seriously and be good ambassadors of the State. 

He later received delegations from the Traditional Rulers Council led by Eze Charles Mkpuma who is also the chairman of southeast Traditional Rulers Council, the TAs, STAs, EAs, ministries of Agriculture,  Market Development,  Environment and the Devine Mandate Pastors who were unanimous in their commendation of the Governor for the massive transformation of the State.
