Ebonyi State Government has charged primary and secondary school teachers in the State to be more committed to their duties.
The Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor on School Monitoring, Hon. Sunday Ogodo JP, who gave the charge when he visited some primary and secondary schools in Ezza South Local Government Area warned that any teacher who failed to take his/her duties seriously would be severely sanctioned.
He said government won't tolerate attempts by anyone to set back His Excellency's laudable vision in the State's education sector.
He however, applauded the commitment of the teachers in some of the schools visited, but charged them to improve more on the social distancing of the students and the pupils in classrooms, in line with the NCDC Protocols;even as he urged the parents to provide face masks for their wards.
He said the essence of the school monitoring was to ensure that teachers are committed to their duties in order to give the children who he described as future leaders, the needed educational training.
Some of the schools he visited are: Ezekunna primary school Ndufu Amana; Ezekunna Memorial Secondary School Ndufu Amana; Izzikworo High School Ukometa; Community Primary school Amaezekwe; Goodluck Primary School Amaezekwe; and Central School Amegu Amaezekwe.
Others are: Ochuwhu Agba Primary School; Community primary School; Ugwuogo Ikweato Idembia; Premiere Secondary School Ikweato Idembia;Central school Ikweato Idembia; Shalom International School Ezzama; Royal Primary school Oferekpe Ezzama and St. Paul's Model Secondary Amuzu,among others
Meanwhile, Hon Ogodo has directed that the headteacher of Central school Ikweato Idembia, Mr. Joseph Elom and another teacher of Ochuwhu-Agba Primary School Ikweato Idembia, Mr Ugbo Chikaodiri, to appear in his office on Monday to explain why they were absent as of the time he visited their respective schools
