The Executive Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. Obiageri Oko Enyim has
assured workers in the council that their welfare would remain the priority of the present administration
Mrs Oko Enyim who stated this during a maiden meeting with workers of the Council at the Council Headquarters, Afikpo said that her administration will continue to accord workers' welfare top priority attention even as she added that the security of every individual and group shall equally be a task that must be ensured by her administration as sacrosanct in her priority agenda.
The council boss who appreciated the workers for their massive votes for the PDP in the last Council polls assured them that she will at all times justify the huge confidence reposed in her and her Vice and the Councillors as a reciprocal.
She enjoined the workers to be dedicated to their duties, show respect for their superior officers, adhere strictly to civil service rules and obey constituted authority.
She equally called for a synergy between the workers and her administration to accelerate efforts towards moving the Area forward for the greatest good of all.
She implored them to continue in their support for His Excellency, Engr. Dr. Apostle David Nweze Umahi, Fnse, Fnate and his entire administration to fast-track more dividends of democracy in the Local Government Area for the betterment of the people.
Barr. Oby also lauded the Governor for prompt and up-to-date payment of workers' salaries and promised to toe the same line of magnanimity.
In her response, the Head of Personnel Management, HPM of the Council, Mrs Elizabeth Ugo Ogudu expressed joy that a woman is onboard in Afikpo North as Executive Chairman for the first time in the history of the Council and expressed confidence in her ability to change the narrative and take the Local Government Area to greater heights.
In his own response, the Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Comrade Abani Ologwu who first congratulated the Council Boss on her landslide victory at the polls, pledged the total support of NULGE for her administration to succeed.
On his own part, the Internal Auditor of the Council, Deacon Henry Ndukwe Oko explained that the step the Council Chairman had taken to friendly interact with the workforce is indicative of the truism that she will do better. He however implored her to shun gossips and their peddlers even as he advised her to keep acrimonious and antagonistic individuals and groups at bay while working for the general good of the good people of the Afikpo North Local Government Area.
In attendance at the meeting were; the Vice Chairman, Princess Patricia Obila; the Leader of the Council and her Legislative colleagues; Development Centre Coordinators; Principal Officers of the Council, the Media and a host of others.
