Umahi Seeks support from NDPHC to boost Power supply In Ebonyi

Governor  David Umahi of Ebonyi state is  reportedly seeking  support and collaboration with Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC’s)  in the area of Power Projects delivery in the State to enhance the industrialization drive by the Government.

Governor Umahi who disclosed this  during his courtesy call to the company in Abuja solicited  more projects from NDPHC in Ebonyi State.

He enjoined the Management of NDPHC that the State will be ready to cooperate with his Management in order to boost Power delivery to his people.


Umahi who was accompanied by members of the National Assembly from the state commended the MD/CEO of NDPHC and his team for a good performance which is demonstrated in their re-appointment for another four years in office. 


Responding the MD/CEO of NDPHC
Mr. Chiedu Ugbo said that the company has started the Transmission projects connecting Nkalagu-Abakaliki and other Distribution projects in Afikpo where CSP Transformers on 11kv lines were installed.

He said that the Abakaliki-Afikpo project has gotten BPP approval which was contained in the 2020 budget but delayed due to the COVID 19 pandemic.

Mr. Ugbo stated that NDPHC is discussing with Enugu DISCO to improve the network in order to enhance Power supply to the network through the Eligible Customer arrangement and this step will address the issue of stranded Power in the region and ultimately increase revenue to NDPHC.

According to him, NDPHC is engaging another contractor to finish the construction of Egbema and Omoku Power Stations which will also ensure Power availability to all states of the Federation.

NIPP is owned by the three tiers of Government i.e. the Federal, State, and the Local Governments. NDPHC’s board is chaired by His Excellency, the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN with six (6) Governors from the six (6) geo-political zones of the country including some Ministers.
