Prof. Inyang to chair Int’l Science Council’s parley

The International Council for Science has selected a renowned Nigerian – American Environmental Scientist, Professor Hilary Inyang to chair a session on plans to build Science and Technological Platform for use in African Sustainable Development.

The session, which was held through virtual conference recently with the representatives of leading African organizations such as; the African Union Commission, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, African Observatory of Science, Technology and Innovation (AOSTI), African Union Development Agency (formerly NEPAD), the International Network for Government Science Advice and International Science Council agreed that, the platform was critical to the successful implementation of the African Agenda – 2063; which is the conscious aspiration of all African countries.

Professor Inyang who is currently serving as the US Ambassador Distinguished Scholar to Ethiopia, is the primary author of Nigeria’s current National Science, Technology and Innovation Roadmap (NSTIR) 2017 – 2030.

He was also former Chairman of the Steering Committee of the Africa Science Plans (2011 – 20130, and contributing Editor of the UNESCO Encyclopaedia of Life Support Systems.

In 2014, Professor Inyang won the World’s Education prize and also, winner of 26 International academic prizes and awards in addition to the Nigeria’s highest national award for intellectual achievement (Nigerian National Order of Merit) for excellence in science and technology in 2013 by former President GoodLuck Jonathan in December, 2013.

The African –American don, is currently being drafted by the Akwa Ibom State Government to also chair the Akwa Ibom State Education Roadmap (AKSER 2020 – 2030), to revitalize the State’s educational system.
