Ebonyi state government has entered into business agreement with Silverbird group and a group of Igbo business men from computer village, Lagos to boost the economy of the state through  investment  in critical infrastructure.

The agreement which was signed during the Ebonyi Business Forum  held at  Christian Ecumenical Center Abakaliki had in attendance the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, Chief Executives of Business Conglomerates
and other top government officials.

Governor David Umahi in his remarks, said the state government has created enabling environment for businesses to thrive and investors to invest in the state.

He expressed delight over Silverbird planned investment in the state and its rating that the Ebonyi international shopping mall is the best in West Africa.

“Once this rating comes from silverbird, it is true considering its wide reach across Ghana, California in the United States of America among others,” he said.

Umahi who commended businessmen of Igbo extraction in Lagas especially those from the Computer Village for accepting to invest in the state, said that they have demonstrated the real Igbo spirit.

“We have offered to provide necessary assistance to them (computer village businessmen) and decided to reduce the rates at the shopping mall because of their interest.

“We have also reserved the biggest edifice at the state’s Centenary city Abakaliki for the Silicon University which complies with vision of the computer village businessmen,” he said.

Umahi urged investors to disregard reports on the social media and invest in the state as they will enjoy the best of security, peace and overall condusive business environment.

Also speaking, the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo who commended governor David Umahi for his development strides in the state called on people of the southeast to invest in the region.

"I am aware that Ebonyi receives the lowest  allocation and I am sure that the Internally generated revenue will as well be very low, yet I have not seen the degree of Infrastructure Umahi has built in Ebonyi anywhere else in the Country. Talking about the State of Arts Ecumenical Centre built by Gov. Umahi, he said, "I have not seen this kind of building anywhere else"

He also called the people of the zone to go into Agriculture which he described as the best to go.

“Our people should come back home and invest. We should go into Agriculture and digital technology where the world is going to. We must turned our Igboland into Catalonia of Spain, into what Bayern is to Germany. If you go to Spain, you can’t go into business without Catalonia, if you go to Germany, you can’t do any business without Bayern.

“Onitsha and Aba markets in Anambra and Abia are almost coming to that. Here in Ebonyi, the Governor is almost turning the state into Bayern of Igboland because of the phenomenal growth the state has recorded under the present administration in the state”, Nwodo stated.

In his own remarks, the President  of Silverbird Group Mr Ben Murray Bruce said that his company will be occupying three spaces (175, 135 seater cinema spaces)  in the  Ebonyi Shopping Mall to bring entertainment to the People of Ebonyi through high definition cinematic experiences from blockbuster movies of Hollywood, Nollywood etc.

He said "This is the best mall I have seen in Africa and we would love to move before December".
