Covid-19: Commissioner takes campaign to Traditional rulers in Akwa Ibom State

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ini Ememobong has taken the enlightenment campaign against COVID-19 to the traditional rulers in the State, and urged them to join the war by educating their subjects in their dormain on the preventive protocols to end the pandemic.

 

He stated this, when he visited the Traditional Rulers Council disclosing that, since COVID-19 has no cure for now, the safest thing was for the traditional rulers to join hands with Governor Udom Emmanuel Emmanuel in the fight against the spread of the dreaded pandemic by increasing awareness/education on the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), World Health Organisation (WHO) and Akwa Ibom State Government (AKSG) COVID-19 protocols.

The Information Commissioner, who was accompanied by his counterpart in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong during the advocacy visit to the Royal fathers said, there was no sitting on the fence, when we have not won the war against the scourge.

 

Ini-Ememobong maintained that, the traditional rulers must be involved since, the people in rural communities look up to them for direction, also pledged to partner them on COVID-19 enlightenment and enforcement. 

He called on them to continue to lead by example in complying with the COVID-19 preventive guidelines so that the people in their different domain can follow.

The traditional rulers appreciated the Commissioner for Information and Strategy for the homage and expressed their readiness to partner the State government in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. 

Their Chairman and Oku Ibom Ibibio, HRM, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the appointment of Mr Ini Ememobong and Frank Archibong into the State Executive Council. 

Traditional rulers from the 31 Local Government Areas of the State attended the advocacy meeting by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Ememobong.
